Beverley Colestia Booth passed away on July 11, 2013 at Leesburg Medical Center after a short illness. Beverley was born in Kingston, Jamaica on February 10, 1947 to Mervis and James Palmer. She was the baby sister to her three brothers, George, Leroy and Owen. At the ripe old age of 15 she migrated to London, England to live with her half-sister Joyce (now deceased). She found employment in the thriving clothing industry and began to further her education at Night School. By 1966 she had made notable progress in her studies and was on her way to becoming a skilled pattern maker, and working in the high-end section of the fashion industry in London. By then she had developed a work ethic, determination, and strength of mind that propelled her to achieve success in two distinctly different professions in later years. Bev was married to Ernest Booth for over 45 years. In January 1968 they tied the knot in a church in East Dulwich, in the South East London, and spent the next two years improving their skills and adding to their qualifications. Beverley’s ambition knew no bounds, and when she orchestrated a move to the United States of America to test the limits of that ambition, her husband now armed with a bachelor’s degree in Economics was on board. After surveying the lay of the land Beverley concluded that the best route to making a contribution and a good living in the USA was to earn a nursing degree. Once her mind was made up she proceeded to put in place all that she needed to do to make it happen. She attended Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn, New York, and graduated as a registered nurse. On November 17, 1971 her family expanded to three when Annette Grace Booth was born. Beverley’s training combined with her caring demeanor made her the consummate care giver, and a wonderful mother. When Annette was in third grade Beverley initiated a move to South Florida where she had a promise of employment at Cedars Medical Center. The family settled in Pembroke Pines and Beverley pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing at the University of Miami, while working in the Emergency Room at Cedars Hospital. Her final move eight years ago, brought her to Eustis, FL where she enjoyed a peaceful retirement close to her daughter and grand-children. Beverley has been a faithful and loving wife to her husband Ernest, and a mother who was close and devoted to her only child, Annette. Her grand-children Alivia and Andreas were the light of her life. She loved them dearly, as she did her son-in law, Leif. Beverley routinely reached out to everyone with love, caring, and respect, and as a result people were constantly drawn to her. She has been a blessing to countless lives along the way and will be sorely missed. Beverley is survived by her husband; daughter; grand-children; son-in-law; brothers, George, Leroy and Owen; uncle, Emmanuel Palmer; nephews, Jason, Andre, Mark, Jamaal ; nieces, Sharon, Angella and Simone; brother-in-law-Glen; sister-in-laws, Winnie, Cherry, and Avis; half-sisters, Paulette and Rita Campbell and a host of very good and loyal friends and associates. We thank God for her life….a life filled with zest and passion. She will live forever in our hearts.
